Can you work on a unit that is holiday let?
Yes, and a lot of our work here is exactly that. We book around changeover where we can, keep the unit tidy, and give the manager or owner a clear written scope so it can be passed on. If something needs the power off we will say how long for, so guests can be told.
Our block has an old switchboard. Who pays, us or the body corporate?
It depends where the board sits. A board inside your lot is generally the owner’s, while boards feeding common property and shared services are usually the body corporate’s. We can quote both separately so the committee and the owner each see their own scope, rather than one invoice nobody wants to split.
Does the salt air really affect fittings this far south?
It does, particularly close to the point where there is very little between the property and the water. External light fittings, power point covers and air-conditioning condensers all corrode faster here. We use coastal-rated fittings and stainless fixings where the exposure justifies it.
