Can you run power to a shed or studio on a larger block?
Yes, and it is regular work on the creek side of the suburb. The things that decide the job are the distance from the board, which sets the cable size because of voltage drop, how the run is protected along the way, and whether the existing board has capacity and space. On longer runs a sub-board at the shed end is often more useful than another circuit from the house.
Does the beachfront end need different fittings?
Yes. Within a few streets of the sand, salt accelerates corrosion on anything mounted outside. External light fittings, power point covers and air-conditioning condensers all age faster. We specify coastal-rated fittings and stainless fixings where the exposure justifies it, which costs a little more once instead of a callback later.
Is there a call out fee?
Not in standard business hours. We attend, assess and give you a fixed price onsite, and you decide whether to proceed. After-hours and emergency work is arranged differently and we say so when you call.
Access at my place is awkward. Does that change the price?
It can, and we would rather tell you before than surprise you after. A switchboard at the end of a long steep driveway, or a run that needs trenching, genuinely takes more time and materials. We price on what the job takes and show you the breakdown.
