Main Beach is a compact suburb with water on both sides, patrolled surf beach to the east and the Broadwater and the Spit to the west. The housing is mostly apartments, from long-established towers along Main Beach Parade to newer buildings behind them, with a smaller number of villas, townhouses and houses in the streets around Hollindale and Woodroffe. Tedder Avenue and the Marina Mirage precinct give the suburb a genuine commercial side as well.
Two things follow from that for electrical work. The first is exposure. With open water on both sides there is very little shelter, and external fittings, meter enclosures and condensers corrode faster here than a few streets inland, which is why coastal-rated fittings and stainless fixings earn their cost. The second is age. Many of the well-kept older buildings are still running their original lot boards, so capacity, not appearance, is usually what limits what an owner can add.

Because there is open water on both sides of the suburb and almost nothing in between to break the salt-laden air. Salt draws moisture onto metal and holds it there, so screws, springs, lamp housings and condenser fins corrode from the inside out. Coastal-rated fittings and stainless fixings cost more up front and last considerably longer in this position.
Can you get access to my apartment building?
Usually, yes, and it goes more smoothly if you tell us the building when you book. We are used to arranging service lift bookings and working in with building managers on access hours. For anything on common property the body corporate has to authorise it, and we can put the scope in writing for the committee if that helps it move.
Do you charge to come and quote?
Not in standard business hours. We attend, look at the job properly, and give you a fixed written price on the same visit at no cost. You are free to take that away and think about it. After-hours and emergency attendances work differently and we explain that on the phone before we come.
Can you work around a restaurant or shop trading?
Yes. For commercial tenancies around Tedder Avenue and the marina precinct we plan the disruptive part of the job outside opening hours, so a fit-out, a lighting change or a board upgrade does not cost you a service. We agree the schedule with you before we start rather than turning up and negotiating it.
