How We Earn Your Business in Labrador
Hi, I’m Mitch. A fair bit of what we open up in Labrador was installed sixty years ago, and the honest answer on those jobs is not always the one that earns the most money on the day. Adding another circuit to a board that is already full is not a fix, it just moves the problem along.
So we tell you what we are actually looking at. If a repair will get you another decade, we do the repair. If the board has run out of room and the next appliance will start the same argument again, we say that instead, show you why, and price it properly so you can decide.
Either way the price is settled before we start, and our workmanship is guaranteed for life.

Electrical Services Across Labrador Homes & Unit Blocks
Everyday electrical work for owner-occupied houses, investment properties, duplexes and the low-rise unit blocks that make up so much of this suburb. Repairs, replacements, additional circuits and full upgrades, all quoted onsite at a fixed price before anything starts. That includes adding power points where a room has run short and the compliance work that comes with selling or leasing a property.
Lighting Installations & Upgrades
We install and upgrade indoor and outdoor lighting systems in Labrador homes and businesses, improving safety, energy efficiency and modern visual appeal.
Switchboard Upgrades & Safety Switches
The most common upgrade in Labrador by a distance. Rewireable fuses out, a correctly sized board in, safety switches on the socket-outlet circuits, and room left over so the next addition is not another full job. See getting the fuse box replaced properly.
Smoke Alarm Installation
Interconnected photoelectric alarms installed to the Queensland standard, which any property being sold or newly leased has to meet. That catches a lot of the rental stock here. More on bringing smoke alarms up to the Queensland standard.
Power Points & USB Outlets
Ceiling Fan Installation
New fans, replacements and the wall controls that usually fail before the fan does, including older blocks with no ceiling access to speak of. Part of our ceiling fan supply and installation work.

Real Stories from Satisfied Labrador Clients
Feedback from Labrador owners, tenants and landlords. What comes back most often is not the technical side at all. It is that we arrived inside the window we gave, the quote did not move once the work started, and the place was left tidy.

Palm Beach LocalWhy Labrador Owners Choose Us
We hold 100+ five-star Google reviews, and none of them are about anything clever. They are about the ordinary things being done properly and repeatedly.
For anyone holding an investment property here, that consistency matters more than it sounds, because a tenant who cannot get an electrician becomes your problem by Friday. We deal with tenants directly when you ask us to, keep you copied in, and handle work booked through a building manager on the blocks where common property is involved. There is no call out fee in standard hours, so a second opinion on a quote costs you nothing.
How a Labrador Booking Works
You call, we ask enough to bring the right parts, and you get an arrival window rather than a vague day. If something slips, we ring you before you have to ring us.
We assess onsite, price it in writing on that visit, and start once you approve it. Floors get protected, the work gets tested, we clean up after ourselves, and you receive the Certificate of Testing and Compliance for the work we carried out. If we found something else worth knowing about while we were in the board, you will hear about it, without any pressure to act on it that day.
We Don't Just Service Labrador, But Also the Surrounding Areas
Labrador sits immediately north of Southport along the Broadwater, and it is one of the older established parts of the northern Gold Coast. Plenty of the housing dates from the 1960s and 1970s, with fibro and brick-veneer cottages inland, walk-up unit blocks along the Broadwater frontage and the highway, and sixty years of mature landscaping over the top of it all.
That age is the thread through most of our work here. Original boards, circuits that were never designed for a second fridge and a reverse-cycle system, and light fittings that have been painted over twice. At the same time the suburb has been steadily renewing, so on the same street we will be doing a straight repair on a sixties cottage and a full fit-out in something built last year. Both are ordinary work for us.
Our electricians cover Labrador and the suburbs beside it, including Coombabah, Biggera Waters, Parkwood, Southport, Main Beach, Runaway Bay, Hollywell. The booking process is identical wherever you are.
Commonly Asked Questions
The questions Labrador owners, landlords and tenants put to us most often. If yours is not here, call and we will talk it through properly rather than guess over the phone. A photo of the switchboard is always welcome and usually tells us more than a description does, particularly on the older houses.
My house still has the original ceramic fuses. Is that dangerous?
Dangerous is too strong unless something is actively faulting, but it is the single most worthwhile upgrade on a house of that age. Rewireable fuses give you no residual current protection, which is the safety switch function that cuts power fast enough to prevent a serious shock. The problem most owners meet first is capacity rather than safety: there is no space left, so every new appliance turns into a bigger job than it should be.
I am a landlord. What do I actually have to do about smoke alarms?
Queensland requires interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms in all domestic dwellings being sold or newly leased, with correct placement in bedrooms, hallways and on each storey. Interconnected means when one sounds, they all sound. We install to that standard and tell you plainly whether your existing alarms already meet it or not.
Do you deal with the tenant directly?
If you would like us to, yes. We will arrange access with them, do the work, and report back to you with what we found and what it cost. Most owners prefer that to being the go-between. We still quote to you and get your approval before anything is carried out.
Is there really no call out fee?
Not in standard business hours. We attend, look at the problem and give you a fixed price onsite at no charge, and you decide whether to go ahead. That is deliberate, because it means getting a proper opinion on an old board costs you nothing. After-hours attendance is arranged differently and we will tell you how on the call.
Can you add power points in an older unit without making a mess?
Usually, yes. How invasive it is depends on wall construction and whether there is any ceiling or wall cavity to work in, which varies a lot in the blocks around here. We look first and tell you what the job will involve before you commit, including any patching, rather than discovering it halfway through.
What does the lifetime workmanship guarantee actually cover?
Our own labour. If something we installed fails because of the way we installed it, we come back and put it right at no cost to you, with no argument about how long ago it was. Equipment faults are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty instead, and we will point you to it and help you make the claim where we can.
